2 Samuel 24-1 Kings 1
Daily Devotionals from 1 Kings 1--
Verse 17
She said to him, “My lord, you swore to your servant by the Lord your God, saying, ‘Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’"
Adonijah thought he could easily take control of the kingdom without David’s blessing and the priests’ anointing. But Nathaniel and Bathsheba reminded David that he had promised to make Solomon king. It turns out that Adonijah was nothing but a coward once he gets the news that his brother was anointed as king.
Sometimes situations look impossible. We see people in positions of authority oppressing others or someone unqualified given (or assuming) leadership. In all the brokenness of the world, we can rest assured, that one day, everything will be made right. The Lord hears our prayers and our cries for restoration to this world. Even though a situation may seem impossible, God hears and sees us. And He is with us through impossible situations.
