Ecclesiastes 4-6

Daily Devotional from Ecclesiastes 4—

Verses 9-10
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

As King Solomon wrote this book later in life, he had become disillusioned. He believed everything we accomplish in life is meaningless (vanity). Both the wise and the foolish end up in the same place - the grave. It might be better to never be born at all than face all the problems that living brings.

King Solomon had lost his way. But within all his negativity, there are still gems of wisdom throughout Ecclesiastes we can use to guide our lives in positive directions. (All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable to interact with for our improvement. 2 Timothy 3:16)
Our verse(s) for today is one example that speaks of the importance of and reasons for community life - whether it be with friends, a spouse, or in the church.
