Jeremiah 19-20

Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 20--

Verse 14
Cursed be the day on which I was born! The day when my mother bore me, let it not be blessed!

God gave Jeremiah a tough ministry road to follow. He is sometimes known as the “Weeping Prophet” because his prophecies often included death and destruction to God’s chosen people and the  Promised Land. He also wrote another book in the Bible - named Lamentations because it  laid out the great sorrow that was coming to the nation of Israel due to their unfaithfulness.

The negativity of Jeremiah’s prophecies naturally impacted his reputation and emotions. It was so difficult for him that, at times, he wished he had never been born.

Not everyone has this same burden-level in navigating life and ministry for the Lord. But we all will face challenges and sometimes even despair. Even though Jeremiah had times of great despair, he was encouraged by the fact that God was always with him to deliver him (Jer 1:8). When facing despair, we have this same promise and hope!
