Jeremiah 37-38
Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 38--
Verse 18
But if you do not surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon, then this city shall be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape from their hand.
The people of Judah would not hear Jeremiah, even after he had been right about everything else. They would be protected if they surrendered and accepted correction, but die if they continued to reject God’s direction.
Many times, we reject what the Holy Spirit is speaking to us. Whether that’s because we are scared or stubborn, rejecting the direction Jesus is taking us in will lead to more difficulty in the long run. I’m sure we can all think of a time we didn’t listen to God, and the situation turned out way harder than it needed to be. When we know the Holy Spirit is speaking to us through the Word, others, or our conscious—let’s decide to be obedient even though it’s hard.
