Jeremiah 45-46
Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 46--
Verse 47a
But don’t be afraid, my servant Judah; don’t lose heart, Israel. I will deliver you from a faraway place and your children from the land of their exile.
Israel and Judah were about to be swallowed by Babylon and Assyria. There was no way around it anymore. The opportunity for repentance was coming to a close. They were going into exile.
Yet, with all of their missed opportunities and flagrant disobedience---this is how God responds, with a promise of restoration and rescue.
All of us know what it's like to miss opportunities and walk in disobedience, and for many of us, the feeling of being in exile is real. Yet--here is the truth--you are wholly loved by God. So much so, he paid the price for you to come home. Your disobedience and missed opportunities have been covered by Jesus on the cross and washed away by his resurrection.
Now, you are no longer exiled from God--but an exile of a world you no longer belong to. You are now a citizen of the Kingdom of God, not by anything you have done, but by God’s goodness and grace alone.
