Romans 9
Daily Devotional from Romans 9--
Verse 3
For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
Paul was so concerned about the Jews who had not accepted Christ, that he said he was willing to be accursed and cut off from Christ if it would mean that his brethren would accept Jesus Christ as Messiah and Lord. Paul was willing to undergo the greatest misery
if it would help his countrymen follow Jesus. Moses made a similar declaration when he said to God, “But now, if you will forgive their sin—but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written."
These two men of God set the example of how to love the lost. What price am I willing to pay to see members of my family and my friends find Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord? Would I be willing to make the same declaration that Paul and Moses made on behalf of the
Jewish people? Do my actions reflect a genuine sacrificial love for the lost? If not, what can I do to change my heart to have genuine love for those who Jesus loves?
