Romans 15

Daily Devotional from Romans 15--

Verses 1-2
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

We’ve all seen people – believers and unbelievers alike - make unwise choices. As an objective or more experienced friend, we might try to show them how some choices will likely end badly. But they may choose to do what they want to do, regardless of our input.
Because of this, it is important to offer GRACE when someone fails. This is what marks believers from the world. Instead of offering judgment and gloating that “they got what was coming to them”—we offer compassion and mercy. This is what Jesus did for us and we do it for others.

James 2:13b says “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” So, bear with (and give grace to) the failings of the weak among us. Seek the good of your neighbors before the good of yourself. This is what it is to be a follower of Jesus.
