1 Corinthians 11
Daily Devotional from 1 Corinthians 11--
Verse 18
For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you.
Paul is admonishing the church in Corinth because they were not only divided—but they were dishonoring the Lord’s Supper by not considering those at the end of the line. They were eating their fill and getting drunk! The poor especially were going hungry—the very people the Church is supposed to care for.
It’s easy to get into a space where we only think about ourselves. In fact, our entire culture teaches us to only think about what we want, how we feel, and how great we are. But Jesus tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves—and especially those who are vulnerable!
Today, if you notice you’re feeling tempted to be hyper-focused on yourself—ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the needs of others around you, and then do something about it!
