Daily Devotional from 2 Timothy 4—
Verses 2 & 5
…preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching…As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
It’s important to always be ready to share the gospel, correct an error, and encourage right behavior. But we must do it patiently. Like Jesus, we are shepherds to one another, lest anyone go astray or fall into a pit.
We are called to be clear minded and we shouldn’t be surprised by suffering. Our trials are nothing compared to what Jesus suffered for us. You can endure them by the strength and power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord, help us love as you love. Let us not withdraw when we see our brother or sister floundering, but with kindness and patience, guide them in your will. Help us to welcome and heed those who do this for us. Thank you for revealing to us your gospel. Make us bold in sharing it. It is our heart’s cry to fulfill your calling for our lives. For all this we are utterly dependent on you! Amen
