Daily Devotional from 1 Peter 3--
Verse 15
Honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
The Bible tells us to destroy arguments (2 Cor. 10:5) and to defend the faith (1 Pet. 3:15), but lest we get too zealous, keep reading verse 15. Peter says, “do it with gentleness and respect.”
We are not looking for notches on our belts or trophies on our shelves. We’re not looking to conquer as much as we are to care. So, in making your defense keep an eye on your demeanor. Make sure it is fitting with the message you declare. We are called to show high regard for truth without losing our regard for people.
