Leviticus 12

Daily Devotional from Leviticus 12--

Verse 6
And when the days of her purifying are completed, whether for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting a lamb a year old for a burnt offering, and a pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering…

While this chapter is hard for me to understand, I recognize that Holiness was extremely important to the Jewish people especially with regard to their tabernacle.

The best way for me to approach this chapter is to remember that our Holy God still deserves the same reverence and holiness that the Levitical Law required of the Jewish people.

While this law may not apply to us exactly as it did to the new Jewish mothers during the time of Moses, 1 Peter 1:15 says: but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. And that doesn’t leave us any more wiggle room than the law did for the young Jewish mothers. Let’s be Holy as He is Holy.
